Importance of Agriculture in Nepal
Agriculture is the main source of food, fodder, feed, income, employment, revenue, and environment. The agriculture sector contributes approximately one-third of the GDP and employees an estimated two-thirds of the total labor force. Reduced crop productivity has caused food scarcity and promoted the import of food, vegetable, fruit, and other agro products. In addition, youth migration causes social disharmony and disintegration. Lack or unfit of the suitability of crop husbandry practices may arise many socio-economic issues at the family, community, and national levels. As agriculture is a quick impacting sector and an immediate need for people, society, and country.
